Typical Blonde...

Immediately thought of home when I saw this!

Hey everyone this weeks email is going to be short because we have been in most of the week because of being sick so I will just put in a few funnies for the week!

1. I am still a typical blonde! We went to a members house and i thought that our car was stuck! We were just getting deeper and deeper into the mud! I had it so i was about to call the elders, i got back in the car and there was the Park break light on oh man i felt soo dumb!
2. We ate turtle! And it was supper good! I thought it tasted like turkey! OH and i think i forgot to mention it but along time ago we ate dog...yeah it tastes like it sounds!
3. Parasites are a real thing. No questions.

Sorry its short but since it was Thanksgiving this week i just want to give a big THANK YOU to all of you! Thank you for all of your love and support! Being a missionary is definitely not an easy thing! But it is a lot easier when you have lots of support coming from home! I am so grateful for this opportunity that i have been blessed with to be able to serve a mission! I am grateful for my Pohnpeian families! For all the lessons that i have learned! I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for eternal families! I am grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ! I am grateful for the scriptures and especially the Book Of Mormon!
I love you all! Sorry this is so scattered and short! I hope you all have a great week!
Love, Sister Bowers

EELS and the Holy Ghost!

Hey everyone another week has flown by! And so much good has happened! Our numbers are going up for church and so many less actives are coming back! This week my testimony has been strengthened so much about the Holy Ghost and how he works with us! We were walking to the waterfall on Monday and it was down pouring rain so Sister Milne just took off our shoes and went barefoot! We were running through the puddles and a prompting came to my mind and i heard "there are eels in the puddle" So i started to walk around the puddles and we get to this huge puddle and Sister Milne says lets all go stand in it and take a picture! I looked in the water and just as they were about to step in i saw the eels! It was such a blessing! The Holy Ghost is such an amazing guide!       Another cool experience we were teaching a less active and she had just recently got married well Pohnpeian married (Not legally) and you could tell that she was just really sad! I had never seen her husband Stoney at church ever since i have been in Uh even 6 months ago! So once again the Holy Ghost helped me to ask her if i could invite him to come! We finished the lesson and were walking away and the Holy Ghost again prompted me "Go invite Stoney to come to church" So i told my companion that we needed to go back and she looked at me as if i was crazy! Stoney has some problems of his own and always hides from us so she wasn't really about it, i knew what i felt and i knew i had to do it!! SO we walked back to his house i knocked on the door and his little brother opens the door and we ask were Stoney was and the you can hear him in the corner "shhhhh shut the door! tell them im not here!" So the little boy goes to shut the door and Sister Milne sticks her head in and sees Stoney so he comes to the door and we invited him to church for probably the first time in forever! He promised us that he would come but I honestly wasn't so sure! Well Sunday morning came and in walked Stoney and his wife! Oh man was i grateful that i listened to the Holy Ghost!               This experience strengthened my testimony so much about just inviting people to come! SO thats what im going to invite all of you to do! Pray and ask who you need to invite to come to church and then go and invite them!  It works!Sorry this is short! I hope that you all have a great week! I am so grateful for all of your support! Love you all so much!

Merleen Pehnias

Sister Bowers and Merleen

Hey everyone! Oh man can i just say how much I love my area! I love my companion! I love the work! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! This week has been one of the best weeks in my entire mission! Obedience brings blessings!
Well, this week i want to introduce you all to one of our investigators names Merleen Phenias! They were already teaching her when i came back to uh she is in her 40's she isn't married, doesn't have any kids, she is a nurse, well was a nurse! I just wanted to share a little bit about her with you!  The first time I met Merleen she always seemed very determined to do things! She is no longer able to walk, she spends the entire day right where she is sitting. She has diabetes and ended up stepping on a piece of glass a year ago and it got really really infected! So she went to the hospital to get it cleaned up and it ended up getting worse! She Ended up having to have a surgery type of thing and get almost all the skin removed from her heal. She received a blessing from the elders a while ago and had a really cool healing experience! Sister Milne said that she really wants to go to church but is nervous to go because she i scared that she will fall or that others will laugh at her! So we were teaching her one day and i just had the strongest feeling that we need to get her to church, i asked her if we could come over and do language study with her and then we would help her do some exercises to help build up her muscle so that she could use her crutches and she said yes! So this week were going to be doing work outs together! Wahoo!! Yesterday I told her that i needed her to come to church before i left and she said of course with out any hesitation! OH man she is the sweetest! So we have ourselves a project this week! We are going to be figuring out how we can help her get to church so keep us in your prayers!
This week has just been absolutely amazing! The love of Christ is so real! I am so sad that i am going to have to leave these people so soon! I would say the biggest lesson that i have learned on my mission is serve lovingly! I have seen the change it brings to people! I am so grateful for each and everyone of you and all the service that you have given to me! I love you all so much! Have a great week!

A week full of Guam!! Transfers!!

Transfers came early yesterday morning! You could say it was a rough day! This girl and I have been trough everything together ever since day one! Lets just say if you were to have been sitting in the air port last night watching us you would have thought some one died! ABSOLUTLEY love this girl! Poakpoake iuk nahn! I pahn miss iuk dohulu! Ke kak wia mehkot me ahpwal! Kital nek tupuene!

Its the final count down...da da da dahhhhh dahdah dah dah dah da da! Its the final count down! Well today is the start of my last transfer! Time is flying by so fast it is crazy! This week was our week to got to Guam for MLC so we left on Tuesday and returned on Friday! We got there Tuesday night and we went to a members house and the fed us! It was so good! It was way different from being on Pohnpei, we all sat a a table and chairs, had our own plates, silver wear, cups and even a napkin was there! Haha yes all of this is normal to you but to me it was not! I was really struggling not to just eat with my hands because turns out that that is alot easier for me now days...Sorry mom, ill try to get better! ðŸ˜Š  Then we saw all the little kids in their Halloween costumes! It was crazy I thought i was in the states!
On Wednesday we went to a Nunnery Assisted Living and did service there! It was so fun! We fed them their food and got them ready for their Halloween/St.Day parade that they were going to be having! Ha it was such a cool experience! There was a lady there that reminded me so much of my Granny! As people started telling her what to do she would get up set and tell them no! She didnt want to do anything...very stubborn! I just thought she was the cutest so I walked up to her and started trying to have a conversation with her. I asked her a few questions and then she told me that she had been there for not very long and that she was not happy with her son putting her in there. Oh man all I could think of was Granny! By the end of the day we were best friends, she would only talk to me and smile at me but anyone else who tried to help her she got up set with them! One thing that these loving people taught me was how important it is to visit our family that maybe live in these Assisted Living Centers, so many of them were so sad because none of their family members ever visited them! So I just want
to ask you, if you have family there, PLEASE, PLEASE, go and see them! It will make their day more that you will ever know!
On Thursday we had our meeting with President Poston. We talked so much about how we can better take the gospel through these Islands! It was soo cool to see the ideas that everyone was coming up with! Here are a few of President Poston's ideas have a traveling music group, a traveling basketball or volleyball team! WAHOOOOO! Count me in! It was so cool to see the different ways to share the gospel!
Friday we flew back home and went and visited Kathrene! We went to sports night and ate Coco (Papaya that isn't ripe sliced up and is placed in a bag with vinegar, kool aid, salt, pepper, soy sauce) Oh man it is so good! Mine and Sister Russells favorite! Sounds good eh?? Its the best!
Saturday and Sunday we watched General Conference! It was so good! I am excited to go back an reread the talks! Sunday morning we recieved a call telling us that Sister Russell would be leaving so we spent the day packing and saying good bye to people! I knew ahead that I was going to be getting transfered to Uh! So we gathered our stuff and headed to the air port! We dropped of Sister Ruslle and then headed back home!
This week has been a crazy week! I have had my eyes opened to how fast i go home and it freaks me out! I love my islanders with my whole heart! I love serving my Heavenly Father! I hope and pray that I am doing everything that he needs me to! Thank you for all of your prayers! Love yo all so much! Have a great week!

#BLESSED

Shon , his family and Sister Bowers

Hey everyone! This week has been a great week! We went on exchanges on Tuesday- Wednesday and I was with Sister Petrus! She is from Chuck! Haha it was quite the exchange! It was our walking Wednesday and I had a feeling that we needed to go and see these investigators that we hadn't seen in a long time! I really didn't want to go there because i don't like the men that live there but for some reason we went and I am supper glad because I was able to see my recent convert Shon! It was a little miracle from Heavenly Father!

On Thursday we went to our very first Pohnpeian Funeral! HAHA man i have never felt more like a tourist than in that moment! It was a man who was a member who fell away from the church and built his own church that uses everything that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints uses!...Book of Mormon, Sacrament prayers, everything, he just believed that he was a prophet, he was not the biggest fan of us missionaries! But hey thats okay, not very many people are! So we decided to go and support him! Funerals are so different here, they leave the body in the house and the women go in the room with the body and cry and give money in a bowl, and if you dont want to do that, you go out side and cook! HAHA just imagine, 2 white girls among 200 Pohnpeians! It was an experience i will never forget!

Saturday KATHRENE got baptized! It was so cute! She kinda ran from her mom and did it! Her mom kept telling her that she needed to wait but Kathrene knew that she needed to do it! So she asked her mom Saturday morning if she could go to a church activity that night and her mom said yes! We went to the bottom of the hill by her house to wait for her ride and we see that her sister is with her so we asked if she told her mom and she said no, but she said that her little sister knew! Haha oh man we just started laughing! I love this girl so much! She has taught me how to stand up for what you believe in! She is so faithful! I am so grateful for her! She has changed my life in more ways than i can explain, she is the one that has helped convert me to the gospel!

I hope you all have a great week! I am so grateful for all of you and your examples to me and all of your prayers! I know this is the Lords work and I am grateful I have been blessed with the opportunity to do it!

Love,
Sister Bowers

Kilel!

Hey everyone! This been has been crazy fast! I don't know where time is going! Here are just some points from the week:
-Wednesday we were able to teach Kathrene about the Tree of life and it was super cool! It was weird teaching it. It was actually my first time teaching it because it isn't translated into the Pohnpiean Book of Mormon so it was a neat experience to be able to teach it!
-Friday we were able to put some more of our investigators on date! So that is way exciting!
-Saturday Suleen came with us and she was doing our job! We pulled into our house and our land lord was there and she just walked up to them and started teaching the gospel and then as they were leaving she gave them a Book of Mormon and a Restoration pamphlet...I felt really bad...need to step up my game!
-Eatting dinner with our ward mission leader his wife asked him to get us a bowl so that we could wash our hands and he stand up and faces away from us and as soon as he does the elders start laughing and I couldn't figure out why! So then I look at Brother Albert (ward mission leader) and his pants were ripped, not just a little rip but from the belt down to the seam! Hahah oh man it was so funny! We all just died laughing! ahahah his wife was laughing so hard, haha and in that moment all I could think was "that is something that would happen at my own house" haha it was the best dinner appointment I have ever had!
-We were able to teach Kathrene about the Sabbath day! We taught her about the sacrament and she already knew what it was for and how important it was! She didn't take it the week before but she took it this week and she explained to us that she knew she wasn't clean because she still was having word of wisdom problems so she didn't want to take it, but she took it this week because this was the week she was clean totally from chewing! It was so amazing to me that she hasn't even been baptized but yet the sacrament is already so important to her!

That is just a little big about our week! I am learning so much! I am starting to get really scared because time is going by way to fast! I love you all! I love this gospel! I love my Pohpeians! I hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Sister Bowers

#1. Eleageem! Ha he is one of our investigators/friends, every time he sees us he flags us down and comes running to talk to us! This is his pet Chicken I cant remember his name thought! He carries it with him every where he goes!
#2. DehDe! He is a member, we were driving down the road and he saw us so I pulled out my camera and this was the pose I got!
#3. Ester Orlando! She is 10 yrs old! She always follows Sister Russell and I around, she is our little sister!
#4. Massage (Little Crabs) The lady in the blue shirt is a member and she was making her dinner so we asked if we could help! Crack the crab, scrape out the bad suff and then she cooked it.

Miracles!

Time! Time! There isn't enough time to do anything! I feel like it was just Monday! I am absolutely LOVING my mission! I am serving with my best friend, teaching the gospel that I love and sharing it with the people that i absolutely love! We have been extremely blessed this week! We have found more prepared investigators and have been able to put them on date already! I have been seeing so many little miracles! Such as Priesthood power is a healing power, Heavenly Father is aware of us, He guides us to the prepared people, he answers our prayers! So many things he does for us! I just love my Heavenly Father! I know that this is Jesus Christs Church on earth today! I know that this is the only Church that can give us this much happiness in this life and in the next life! I have never been so happy! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that if we read it every single day we will not fall and it will be easier for us to over come temptation! The Book of Mormon brings a happiness into our lives like no other book can. So if your not happy, read, read, read, read! I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer! I know that we can use his infinite atonement anytime we need help! He is always there for us! I know that we have a living prophet on earth today Thomas S. Monson and that he receives direct revelation from our Heavenly Father! I am grateful for this gospel! I am grateful for all of you and all of your prayers! I love you all so much! Have a great week!

Kathrene and Dehlila

It's raining....... just a little.

So I swooped Sister Russell's weekly email because i wanted to share it with you all about our week so here it is.....

So here's a few of our little miracles from this week!
A few days ago Sister Russell and I decided that we needed a little bit more of heaven's help! So wee chose to fast for those things which we needed & along with that we decided to fast for a miracle and boy did we get one! We closed our fast and went to the church to pick up our member present & when we pulled up Pohlo came running to us telling us that her nephew was staying with her and how last week he came to church & explained to her that he had felt something different at this church than he had felt at other churches. Soooo we taught him & in the first lesson he explained to us his desires to join the church! He's now on baptismal date for the 28th. God is good.
Next miracle. Kathrene! Gosh I love her.
I'm pretty sure at least half of the Sapwalap Ward was fasting & praying for that cute girl & we saw another miracle because EVERYTHING is now fine! The Lord is not going to let anyone stop His work not even Kat's mom! We're praying that everything will work out with her baptism on the 28th.

Soooo what else happened this week?
- Me and Sister Russell had a total freak out this week when we ran into Suleen in town. I was yelling and Sister Russell was honking but the windows were down and we both just looked like total idiots and everyone was just staring at these two white girls having freak outs in the car. It's the little things on a mission. We probably laughed for 3 hours after that. yikes.
- We walked around in the rain ALL DAY on Friday and President Zarbock said there were blessings that come from walking around in the rain but we didn't real see those because no would let us in their house because we were too wet. Thanks President. We tried.
- OHHHH so these men from the Church are making a "Light the World" video on Pohnpei and they came and filmed our English class last night so HECK YA. Go look on FB (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Micronesia) to see a little bit of that!

Love you all!!
