Hey everyone! Can you believe it! Were already to the end of August! How crazy! Things are going good here on the island of Pohnpei! Our crazy prepared investigator Kathrine is back so we are going to start teaching her again! So we are way happy about that! We went walking this week to try and find some new people to teach that live closer to the church so that they can walk to church and we had some pretty good success! We found a lady named Victoria she is 62 and we went and taught her yesterday! We were teaching her and her husband about the Sabbath day, we finished our lesson and we asked if they had any questions or comments and the husband says yes he then says "In the scripture it says that we are supposed to rest on the Sabbath day...Is that what you to do?" ha Sister Russell and i just kind looked at each other and then we kinda explained how our week went and we knew that he was joking with us just trying to mess with us! But then we had our member presents who were with us and the two of them shared a little testimony and we left. Once we got to the road we asked the other girl why she didn't do her testimony and she said that she got scared because that the man was really mad at us! Ha it made me think about how i felt when i first started my mission! So nervous to say anything! On the other note we had 4 of our investigators that we saw run and hide from us so that was a bummer! Everything is going great here on Pohnpei! I am loving the work! Loving my companion! Loving my ward! and Loving my area! I hope that you all have a great week! I love you all so much! Miss you all so much!

Dadaurete lel imwi!
Hey everyone! How goes it? I hope you all had a great week! Sounds like everyone had a great time at Fair! This week was kinda a rough week! We had a big funeral in our area so that was where most of the people in our area were! We were able to find a new investigator names Eleageem he is in his 20's! We had our very first lesson with him and he was telling us how much he is addictied to all sorts of drugs and how he has been praying to be able to quit! We ended the lesson and i had notice that he only had one ear! So after the lesson i asked the girl that was with us what had happened to his other ear and she said that he was really really drunk and he and another guy got in a fight and the other guy bit off his ear! HOW CRAZY! Ha so i am way excited to start teaching him!
We had a lesson with a less active couple the guys name is Alvin William we took one of our members Lisa Ellies! She talked about enduring to the end and in Pohnpeian enduring to the end means Dadaurete lel imwi! The word Dadaur means to go up and she tied it in to how when we are enduring to the end we should always be going up, we should never be sliding down! Always improving! It was so cool the way she put it into words! So always remeber that when we are ETTE we are always going up not sliding back down!
So a while back I had mentioned how bad my english is! Well Saturday our ward had a talent show and us missionaries danced and I was laying on my bed watching the video and i say to Sister Russell "Holy we are very instinct!" and she starts laughing! Ha so i say it again and she goes "That is not the word!" so i layed there thinking for a second and then i go "OH insync!!!!!!" Ahahaha we had a really good laugh! So no need to worry i am still a blonde at heart!
So back to Alvin William! We tried to go and see them last night and we pulled up to there house and the light was on, we got out and locked the car and we get to the door step and before we even say anything they hurry and turn off the light and it goes completley quiet! Ha Sister Russell and I just look at eachother and turn around, we got in the car and turned around, when we drove back by the light was back on! Oh man we were like you have got to be kiddin! HA so yes, people still hide from missionaries, its still a thing!
I hope that you all have a great week! Thank you for all of your support! Love you all so much!

Loapwaloap en Pohnpei!
P-Day.. Washing clothes in the river with Suleen. |
KASALEHLIE MAINGKO! How was you're week?? This week was a crazy week so ill just share a cool adventure thing that we were able to do! To day we loapwaloap en Pohnpei (Washed our clothes pohnpeian style) Haha talk about hard work! We went to a river type thing and carried our clothes down to it, we sat on rocks and our Relief Society president named Suleen was the one who was going to teach us! She assigned us our rocks to sit on and our rock to wash on! We started out by soaking our clothes in a bin with soapy water for about 5 min, then you take one piece of clothing and lay it on your rock and smack it with a paddle type thing, the you rinse it in the water and begin smacking your clothes again! Haha it is such work out! It was so much fun though! After we washed our clothes, her mom had made us Uht Sukasuk! (Bananas mushed in coconut milk) Udahn Io!
Here are some funny things that happened this week!
1. Sister Russell gave a member some lotion and she said it smelt like a certain food that they ate, so she just started eating it off her hand! Oh man it was so funny!
2. We found a huge spider the size of my had and i went to go kill it but it ran and we had no clue where it went! So that wasn't fun!
3. A missionary on Pohnpei got arrested for 1 hr. so thats pretty crazy!
Haha well just leave it at that! I hope you all have a great week! I love you all so much! Thanks for all the support! Here is my favorite scripture for the week! Mosiah 3:19!

Sister Bowers

Walking Week!!
Wee!!
Hey everyone! This week was great! We walked all week because our car was in the shop! So that means, lots of sun, lots of sweating and lots of buring calories! WAHOO! We have deffinatly been beat by the sun! But it was worth it! We just came back from Guam from MLC It was so fun! Absolutley love President and Sister Poston! One huge miricale that i have seen how missionaries are protected is this week we have been walking all day every day, even at night with no lights! And lets just say dogs on Pohnpei arent the nicest! I can honestly say that i have had 3 dogs by my ankles this week and not one touched me! #BLESSED Haha we finally figured to carry rocks with us and to run with the cars that would drive by us so that we could run past the dogs! I know with out a doubt that missionaries are protected! Thank you for all of your prayers for us misionaries, I can promise you all that the Lord answers them! Thank you so much for all of your support! I am so grateful for all of you! Love you all! Have a great week!
Love,
